Heya guys. As I finished episode 8 of Yuru Yuri (amazingly hilarious show!), I realised I was about due another write up on here. So here we are.

Fresh of a hair cut, it’s been a pretty good week. Still managing to uphold my crappy ability to dodge employment like some on JSA and it truly sucks. VERY VERY skint at this point so i’m hoping Uni decide what i’m doing next year so I can move on with my life for the next year. Phone interview actually went fairly well, so obviously some douche was better and stole my job! Will keep at it though I guess, before I make my mother bankrupt from all the odd 20s I keep borrowing.

Watched the new Planet of the Apes film last night and it was pretty awesome. Basically the first film in what I presume will be a reboot for the Planet of the Apes series which I personally think is an awesome idea to get an older series some interest for a younger audience. Film was really enjoyable, as was the classic during-film banter with the sister! James Franco delivered really well on his role and as always was a pleasure to watch him in a film. Always enjoyed his performances since I saw him in Spiderman years ago.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Buck on a Mission!

Also had the continuation of Summer LAN on Friday night which was absolute jokes. Had the usual few games on Halo before everyone couldn’t be bothered and then played a tonne of SSFIV: AE which was awesome as I was once again reunited with my Oni (which absolutely destroyed which his awesome jab and grab priority!). Playing Akuma more until I get my AE and he’s pretty good too, if a little weak in the health derpartment. Also terrorising Clarkii in his sleep with a monkey soft toy and a squirty bottle of water in his face was harsh but pure genius.  Matt did his usual and grinded out all possible time he could get on XBL as possible and made major levels in BBC2. All in all was another awesome LAN and Worms was hilarious the next morning (the bits that I wasn’t asleep for anyway).

Oni

The beast that is Oni

Also popped to another mates the next day on barely any sleep for some beers and some Xbox and ending the night falling asleep to Total Recall, which i’ve just heard is being remade in 2012 and now want to kill myself as a result of. Colin BLOODY Farrell can kiss Arnie’s arse. Nevertheless was another good night, especially my amazing goals on Fifa which i’m Grade A fanny flop at.

Managed to catch up with all my airing anime apart from Nichijou and really happy with them right now. Yuru Yuri may be my favourite show right now, it’s so light-hearted and funny, but with some quality Yuri daydreams to keep the fan base interested. Kamisama has kind of let it’s momentum go I feel, I really enjoyed the first few episodes but this current story feels a bit…dragged out in a way I guess. Yes I know it’s only a few episodes but i’ve kind of lost interest and just want to see if the ending manages to redeem it or not. Also finished watching Hidan no Aria yesterday and it was a really enjoyable show, despite the last 2 episodes feeling a little weaker than the ending the series had to the potential to reach. It’s ended open though so the chance of a sequel is more than likely.

Boom

Riko and Aria

It’s been an alright week for my general gaming. As my SSFIV disk is playing up a treat, i’ve been playing it more on my 3DS and focusing on the awesome Arcana Heart 3 which I picked up, thanks to the awesome booth and demos at MCM Expo back in May. Really cool game with some hilarious characters and moves and a really balanced feel to it, as opposed to other fighters that get a lot of slack for being unbalanced. I’m playing Lieselotte like I said I would on release but enjoying a few other characters too. Hoping I get into the game properly and really learn how to play it.

Been playing some The World Ends With You as well which is my favourite DS game ever. As brilliant as always, and not much more can be said on this game.

Anyway folks, short and sweet again this week. Hope you’re all having a good August.

Heya guys! Hope all is well for all of you. I realised I haven’t blogged since last week and wanted to get back into a schedule of doing so. Hence why I decided to put the fingers to the keyboard and get some of me back on the web (no, not in that way…).

Not much really to go on from last week. I have a job interview on the phone tomorrow which should be interesting. I think i’m more prepared than i’ve ever been for an interview so I guess i’m feeling confident and I don’t have to worry about sweating in a suit or anything until the actual interview if I even get that far. Be nice to earn a  bit of cash and i’m really looking forward to actually having a job for the first time so i’ve definitely got my hopes up for this one and hope it doesn’t let me down.

As for what i’ve been doing, not much really. Hanging out with my girlfriend, playing Xbox, playing DS, sleeping at silly times of day and many more things I usually do on a regular basis. Looking at my desk there’s also things I should have done and haven’t, woops. I did get to hang out with a couple of friends all through Friday night as we played some Halo Reach, SSF4 and BBC2. BBC2 was cool as it was my first time playing it and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I took to it. Hopped straight into online multiplayer and went beast mode within 2 games, hitting a 4.8K/D in the second game which was awesome! The destructible buildings definitely made a nice change to what I usually have to put up with and after my experience with the Battlefield 3 Alpha, i’m really excited for the actual game now. Also watched Sucker Punch, which may be one of the most interesting films i’ve watched in a while. It had a very unique style and flow to the story and was quite a good watch.

Suckerrr Pawwwnch!

Worth a watch? Definitely

Within the last week I haven’t watched too much anime really. I infact should be finishing Hidan no Aria about now and have only seen up to episode 8 so I have some catching up to do as soon as I get some free time. Got a few more episodes of Fairy Tail under my belt and it’s such a good show i’m glad i’m so behind because I don’t have to wait for the next episode for a while. Looking good to hit up the manga when i’m caught up and i’m quite excited for that. Looks like some good stories are ahead!

You heard the man!

My gaming has consisted of the usual Halo Reach, Super Street Fighter 4 and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon within the last week. I played a touch of MW2 again as my disk has now been repair cleaned at Gamestation so is actually playable again. Game is still as easy as I remember it, the average player being an absolute idiot which makes for some very easy Chopper Gunners for me. Got a try of Oni on SSF4:AE and he was incredibly easy for me to get to grips with. Really enjoyed stepping out of a Focus Attack and drilling a multi hit combo into a Super. Can’t wait to get my hands on it so I can start putting him to work, for now it’s odd trials I keep getting stuck on.

So it was only a brief update this week but i’ll be back soon with some more next week. Ciao!

Heya guys. Realise it’s been incredibly long and i’m a terrible blogger. Hope you’ll accept my lazy apology.

Jumping right into things, i’m still enjoying the joys of unemployment. Living off your parents is always a sucky thing even when you were younger but now it feels incredibly bad as a 20 year old. There’s not much else I can do at this point as no placement company seems to want me and none of the newer ones coming up seem to be anything I can actually do. The job front is not too much better at the moment but i’m hoping to get a biter soon and pull myself out of this debt I seem to have built up. I’m not doing too much other than bumming around most days in my room or trying to meet up with friends when I can. Managed to see some guys from SOS yesterday and it was amazing fun. So good to see them all again and hang out like we did so many times last year. The room is also slowly working out for me and now i’ve got a new Super Hub from Virgin, I have one less plug to worry about. Looking forward to possibly redecorating next week…possibly.

Now to the world of “those chinese cartoons” as my Dad calls them. My recent pick ups in case you didn’t know already are:

  • Yuru Yuri
  • Ro-Kyu-Bu!
  • Steins;Gate
  • Kamisama no Memo-chou
  • Hidan no Aria (as part of our group watching idea from SOS)

I’m enjoying all the series so much at this point except Aria which i’ve only watched 2 episodes of at this point so can’t really pass a real judgement yet. Yuru Yuri is a comedic poke at the Yuri genre, whereas RKB is sort of like K-ON! meets basketball with younger girls. Kana Hanazawa voices the main girl and her voice is one of my favourites among the seiyuus so it was a good enough reason to have a poke at this show. Kamisama has huge potential and I think it could easily be my show of the season. Alice is incredibly cute and it’s a sorta nice bridge from Gosick with a female detective sort of character but this time with a much bigger cast involved with the resolving crimes part of the show. Steins;Gate may be the most interesting pick up of the lot. Good call on the recommendation Trish! I didn’t watch the first half last season so decided to catch up and it’s definitely been worth it. The show has incredibly plot twists and i’ve been really emotionally involved in this series pretty much from about 5 episodes in. The characters are so good and the atmosphere the show leaves in incredibly strong. Can’t wait to see how this one turns out

On the gaming front, i’ve recently started playing Maple Story again due to the Big Bang update which has really swayed the game for me. My previous complaints with Maple is that the levelling took way too long for a normal player to enjoy the game before they got bored of the early grind areas which were incredibly tedious. I’ve played this game a tonne in the past and didn’t really get past the mid 30s in level terms. The update has really helped the game though, since it changes the landscape of Maple, you’re now levelling against different monsters and doing different quests to get through those horrible late 20s you spent weeks getting through before. Since coming back though it’s been a really fun experience and i’ve managed to best my old I/L Wizard by about 6 levels in probably a tenth of the time. Hoping to keep playing, especially as i’m broke and the game is freeeee.

No, not the Vegeta move...

Maple Story's saving grace?

Also managed to play a few games of the Battlefield 3 Alpha which was also real good fun if a little difficult. I’m not really a Battlefield player so this was all rather new to me but the game had real potential and i’m hoping for big things when the Beta lands next month.

On my Xbox i’ve been trying to keep up with the usual Reach grind which ends in me punching something so i’m trying to keep that as spread out as possible. Thanks to the Evo Championship Series event, my love of SSF4 has been rekindled and i’ve been playing a fair bit of that recently. Trying to learn the game is quite daunting but i’m well up for the challenge as I really dislike getting stomped out everyone online. Picking up Viper who is said to be the most technical character in AE so i’ve definitely got my work cut out for me but it should be interesting. My main pad is a little wonky on the stick so i’m hoping to invest in a new one when I get some cash in hand. Fight stick is a bit further on the horizon maybe. Managed to persevere with the Crysis 2 single player a little and it’s really good fun if a little challenging at times. My harder difficulty run through is gonna be brutal!

On my DS i’ve been playing a lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky since I got a tad stuck on Phoenix Wright 2. Sky is the 3rd version of the Time and Darkness follow ups to the original series. These games may be my favourite Pokemon game ever. Get a real kick out of exploring the dungeons and recruiting new awesome Pokemon to the team. I’m real close to the end of the game right now so I can’t wait to finish it and complete the new side missions available for Sky. Maining a Mudkip with Pikachu partner so i can keep my room clearing options open late game and have a decently powerful main to push through the big bulky Rock pokemon.

Skyyy

One of my favourite Pokemon games ever?

So that’s about all that comes to mind right now. I’ll try to keep you posted next week :P
