Heya guys, I feel kinda bad because this is the first time i’ve blogged since just after May Expo which seems a million years away right now.

Life isn’t really too exciting for me on an everyday basis at this point so I opted to take a little break and enjoy my time off uni, which is always great. I’ve been home for just over 3 weeks now and getting everything into my cramped room at home provided quite the fun time, but my speakers were sacrificed in the process and left to wallow in the shed until I move out again. I’ve managed to make it work somehow, and when my new bookcase is up I should actually have a bit more space because at the moment I have none at all. My chair for the computer literally blocks off the doorway, making it impossible to get in or out of the room when someone is sitting in it. This is fine when it’s just me but not so fine when someone else is using the computer or playing the Xbox and i’m trying to get ready to go out.

Anyway swiftly moving on, the world of anime has been very small for me this week but I managed to finish up Gosick and Hoshizora this week and was really happy with both of them. Firstly Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi, which was a really pleasant series to watch throughout and had some really sad moments in it at parts. I’m a sucker for romance and it was my perfect fit for this season. I was really happy with the ending and it was truly a pleasure to watch. I think the whole VN -> Anime transition works really well for it, even if it did only cover one route. The characters were also all really likable in some way, which gets a definite thumbs up from me. Personal favorite of the bunch award goes to the lovely Tsumugi (no, not Kotobuki) who was a very elegant and lovely senpai.

D'awww

Pick of the bunch

Gosick’s finale was much more satisfying though. I found the series was really stretched out, and I got kinda worried about how it would end. I had a real soft spot for this one but at any point wouldn’t have given it more than a 7 out of 10. The last 2 episodes really picked up the pace and even though I think they should have been in place of 3 or even 4 episodes, really closed up the story nicely for me. I feel the Kujo at war part was really rushed but it was a pretty heartfelt ending and I’m glad it turned out how it did. I really enjoyed the setting of this show as it makes quite a nice change to go back a fair few years (about 80 odd I believe) and see the world in new surroundings. The war time theme was really nice too, had a sort of tragic Ghibli feel to it which is always a pleasure to watch. So thanks Gosick for being the first mystery anime i’ve taken a real interest in.

A definite beautiful ending

Happy ending we all wanted

In other quick anime summary news, I am still watching Nichijou and Beelzebub which are ongoing but have also picked up Kanon on the side as a big series and have started Mushishi with the guys from society as a show to watch and discuss. It looks promising but i’ll leave talking about it till a later date. Kanon has already put a few tears in my eyes so it’ll be getting a good thorough blog post real soon. Bleach is still the usual on-going longness it has always been so of course I am still watching that.

As for gaming recently it’s been what I’ve spent most of my time on while at home. I picked up the magical Ocarina of Time 3DS which I have almost fully completed (need those Gold Skulltulas) and hope to delve into Master Quest soon. It’s always a pleasure to play this absolutely amazing piece of game history and after what must have been like my 8th play through, I am still finding new little things in the game. Two biggest eaters of time right now are Red Dead Redemption and Crysis 2. Giving Halo a bit of a break as frankly it’s got pretty boring and I have already played it WAY too much already.

So yeah, Red Dead Redemption. 100% stats on both the main story and Undead Nightmare already tells you I have put quite a few hours into this game already. That doesn’t include the 12 hours straight I did on it yesterday during the 4th of July 4x XP weekend. Going from level 40 to 25 3rd Legend was a giant leap and a massive amount of time spent killing the same NPCs over and over again. It was a really fun experience in some ways but also a massive XP grind in others. Getting onto Bonzo or a Buffalo is way awesome though and had a fun time hanging with the guys in chat and grinding it out. I find the competitive game types in this game could do with some tweaking but overall this game is a bunch of fun and I am so happy I decided to buy it as I have had so much fun playing it and will have plenty more trying to net the rest of the achievements I need .

Awesome is a good word

Beautiful landscape of RDR

Crysis 2 however at the moment has been PURE multiplayer with very little single player as I wanna play Crysis 1 before I do. It’s a really fun game to play online and I find while sharing some traits with other shooters, it makes itself unique with the Nanosuit abilities and the way they operate kill streaks. This works by having the players loot dog tags from the corpses of enemy players they have killed, which sorta nips camping in the butt. There is an ability (Crysis’ answer to CoD’s perks) which retrieves them for you but this is sacrificing a possible upgrade to other things which make improve your general ability to stay alive or get more kills. The Nanosuit is truly amazing to play with and allows for you to pull off some sick plays against the unsuspecting enemy with the use of camouflage and armour. Having a bunch of fun with this and can’t wait to get some single player under my belt too.

STAB!

Stick around too long and you'll get a knife in the back

I have to give a big shout out to the amazing promo by pro-wrestler CM Punk on last Monday’s edition of Raw. If you’re a former/current/interested fan at this point I suggest you go to Youtube and find it right now because it was awesome. It got everybody talking, had a lot said that i’m sure wasn’t even allowed by WWE regulations and Punk getting his Mic cut out at the end really was the icing on the cake. I’m not a reader of the online wrestling fan sites because I don’t really like spoilers and I like to be excited by new news coming in instead of reading in before it happens. So I really don’t know what to make of this promo but I guess we’ll see the aftermath tonight when Raw airs. Have never been more excited for an edition of Raw than this. Money in the Bank is shaping up to be an amazing PPV!

That’s all for today folks, I am hoping I have better things to talk about come next week but here’s hoping

Cipe out~
